We are now ONLY recruiting Children 7-10 years of age who are invited to participate with a parent present in an **ONLINE 2-Session Research Study** administered by a researcher using a secure Internet connection and University affiliated Zoom teleconferencing link. Each session will be about 75-90 minutes in duration.
**IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP:**
Session 1 and Session 2 must occur at the same time within 7 days of each other meaning if you would sign up for Sunday, June 16th @ 10:00 am, you would need to be able to present the following Sunday, June 23rd @ 10:00 am. You can sign up for the first session using the calendar provided. Just make sure you can return at the same time and on the same day the following week. Once you present and complete your first session, we'll send you a confirmation email and notification reminders for your second session. Please ensure you're able to commit to BOTH sessions before signing up.
**THIS STUDY CANNOT BE COMPLETED ON MAC COMPUTERS, IPADS, TABLETS, OR CELL PHONES DUE TO PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.**
**The following are required in order to participate:**
A stable Internet connection; a Windows desktop or laptop computer; Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge browser; a mouse, track pad, or touch pad, and functioning keyboard; device speakers, external speakers, on-ear headphones, over-the-ear headphones, or in-ear earbuds; webcam. The Researcher must be able to see and hear you for the duration of the online session.

**Study Name and Description:**
**BIMODAL MEMORY FOR ORDER STUDY**
This specific study is occurring under the project titled, “The Development of Short-Term Memory for Speech Attributes.”
The ONLINE session is approximately 75 to 90 minutes in duration.
For the first part of the task, Participants will be presented with 4 Colored Squares that appear and disappear one at a time; 4 Different Sounds that play one at a time; OR both will occur at the same time. After the presentation, the Participant will see one Colored Square OR see a question mark and hear one Sound and have to indicate whether the colored square appeared 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th OR whether the sound played 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. A puzzle task or a number recall task will be administered at the end of the session.
**NOTE:** Participants may only participate in this memory game one time, whether onsite or online.
**Purpose of the Study:**
The purpose of the studies that we offer is to explore the operation and capacity of working memory occurring within different age groups at various developmental stages as well as the role working memory plays in the acquisition and utilization of language throughout these stages.
**Compensation:**
$20.00 per hour of participation with an additional $5.00 for every 15 minutes after the hour. Payment will be provided following the session and completion of a payment form. Payment can be provided via [Venmo](https://venmo.com/), [PayPal](https://www.paypal.com/us/home), OR we can send via standard mail to your residence (takes 7-10 days to receive payment).
**IMPORTANT!!!** Please be advised that we do not make payments to foreign accounts or send to residences located outside of the United States. This means that if a participant payment is entered via Venmo or PayPal using an account supplied by the parent/participant and foreign fees are applied before the payment is confirmed and sent, payment will be cancelled and forfeited by the parent/participant since eligibility requirements clearly state that parents/participants must reside within the United States and have an account/payment method associated with their residency within the United States. If you prefer to be paid via Venmo or PayPal, the account MUST be in your name and associated with your personal email address or cell phone to verify authentication. We cannot send to business profiles, relatives, friends, or non-residing parents.
**Eligibility Requirements:**
•Children 7-10
•Your child must reside with you as the consenting parent within the United States.
•Your child must log in to an online study from a location within the United States and parent must have an account or payment method associated with their residency within the United States OR a valid United States postal address in order to receive payment via standard mail service.
•If you choose to receive payment via a payment service provider such as Venmo or PayPal, the account MUST be in your name and associated with your personal email address or cell phone to verify authentication. Payments cannot be sent to business profiles, relatives, friends, non-residing parents, or foreign based accounts.
•Your child must have normal or corrected-to-normal vision (glasses; contacts) including normal color vision meaning the ability to distinguish shades and tint of color.
•Your child must have normal or corrected-to-normal hearing (aid; implant).
•Your child must be a native English speaker OR fluent in the English language.
•Your child must have the ability to attend to the following without experiencing adverse side effects: Auditory items that can be soft or loud, high or low, irregular or repetitive and/or Visual items that can flash or appear and disappear very quickly.
**Ineligible if any of the following apply to your child:**
• Inability to attend to or respond to repetitive irregular sounds and/or flashing items without experiencing adverse side effects.
• Cognitive impairment or traumatic brain injury.
• Color Blindness or inability to see colors or distinguish shades and tint of color.

**How Signing Up Works:**
•You may schedule one child per time slot/appointment. Click on any BLUE outlined date to view available time slots. Click on a time slot that works for you. You can use the angle brackets in the upper right of the calendar to navigate to a previous month or upcoming month.
•Tell us a little about yourself and your child on the booking form.
•Click "Confirm Booking" and an appointment confirmation will be sent to you via the email you provided which you can add to your calendar.
•Shortly after, you'll receive an email with your appointment details, including the Researcher's Zoom URL, and additional instructions on how you and your child can best prepare for your online session.
•Please review the **[Parental Consent Form](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BrYeXDVUVdnJKCIob20TgSnbwekTFE7l/view?usp=sharing) PRIOR** to your appointment. Consent will be obtained during your child’s online session before the Researcher administers the study. During that time, you may once again review the consent and indicate your desire to have your child participate by ticking a checkbox before the study begins or choose to opt out.
**If No Times are Available:**
If days and times are shaded and/or the words, “No Availability” appear, those times are booked or we have met the participant number required for this study. However, please revisit the study link because often times the dates of the study are extended and reopened for sign-up if additional participants are needed.
